Forest school fun
Today reception took part in a forest school session all about the season of autumn. This links to our prior understanding the world learning of seasons and seasonal changes. The children loved being outside and getting involved in all the activities set out.
Remembrance Day
We decorated Poppies to show our respect for Remembrance Day. We took part in a minutes silence and watched a video to help us understand the emotions that people may have felt.
Playground Games
Last week BeeActive came in to play some games with us! We loved joining in and playing with our friends.
Our New Role Play Area
We had a new role play area that we have loved exploring. We have used our personal experiences to take part in ‘shopping’. We are learning new vocabulary, how to create narratives with friends and lots of social skills.

This week in Science, Year 5 have started their new science topic all about space!
Planting Bulbs
This week we have been helping our environmental parliament to make our school ground bloom. We planted lots of daffodils around the school and can’t wait to see them grow.

This morning we spent some time planting bulbs around the school environment. The children learnt about the parts of a bulb and how to plant a bulb. They took it in turns to dig the mud before each planting a bulb and covering it over. We then discussed when we can expect to see the bulbs grow…
Discursive Writing!
In our Writing lessons this week, we have started a new genre of writing called ‘Discursive Writing’. In one of our lessons we annotated a WAGOLL using our iPads to identify different features of the genre and Y6 produced some brilliantly annotated WAGOLLs! Keep up the good work…
Exploring global ingredients!
This week in DT, Y6 have started a brand new topic entitled ‘Global Food’. This week, we explored and researched different foods from around the globe considering how different foods are prepared and eaten. We really enjoyed this lesson and Y6 are really looking forward to improving their cooking…
Book talk! Features of a book
Today in book talk we recapped the features of a book to ensure the children are fully secure with this. We discussed the title, author, illustrator, spine and blurb. The children could tell me why these features are needed and where they are located on a book.
Part Whole Model
We have begun to use part whole models. We have used cubes to make the parts and then counted them altogether to write the whole. Some children turned their part whole model on its side or even upside down but still used the part whole model correctly!
