This week in Science, we conducted an investigation to explore how light travels. We proved that light does in fact travel in straight lines and becomes blocked by opaque objects. Y6 Whales worked really hard in this lesson. Well done!

We have been working very hard on remembering the features of a book. We recapped the title, illustrations and this week learnt about the Author. We looked at a variety of books and identified all of the features.

In PE we loved playing Dinosaur stomp! We used our super listening skills to move and freeze. We chose different ways to move around the hall using all points of our body such as crawling, slithering, shuffling, stomping and running.

We have been learning all about celebrations and this week focused on birthdays! We have had a lot of birthdays in class this month and we have loved sharing common traditions such as balloons, presents, cake, party’s and hats.

This week in Science, we have considered how plants are adapted to survive. As part of our lesson, we create posters based on either a cactus, sunflower or Venus fly trap. Here are some amazing examples in which Y6 Whales produced!

Today we enjoyed planting 2 trees in our playground. We learnt how to plant and how to then care for our new trees. We made a promise to look after our trees and to help them to grow. We love gardening in reception!

We have used a tower of ten cubes to find number bonds to 10. We have broken the tower and counted the two parts. From this, we were able to write the number bond on our whiteboard!

In our continued effort to take care of our School environment, we have been outside again planting some tree saplings. Each class has planted two trees each - Hazel, cherry blossoms and Rowan trees. Seals class have planted two rowan trees today!
