Pesky perimeter!
This week in Maths we have been tackling a new concept of perimeter. At first we found this quite tricky but by the end of the week we have moved on to finding the missing lengths of rectilinear shapes to find the perimeter.
Combining two groups
We have been learning how to combine two groups to find the total. We put two groups together and then counted how many objects we had altogether.
Amazing maths!
Today in maths we have been exploring how to practically find two parts and name the whole up to 5. Some of us were also able to answer a reasoning question relating to the composition of numbers up to 5. We are super mathematicians!
TTRockstars Competition
This week we have been busy competing in the official Stoke-on-Trent TTRockstars competition against other schools in the city. We have been playing during our arithmetic time and some of us have been extra busy at home too. Winners will be announced next week!

Order of operations
Year 6 have been learning about order of operations in Maths. We have learnt that any calculations in brackets must be completed first!
Mental maths
Year 6 have been practicing their times tables when learning about factors, multiples and prime numbers.
Partitioning numbers
Today we have been using our iPads to partition numbers into their place values, we then looked at different ways we could represent our partitions to reinforce our knowledge and confidence
Moving on in Maths
In Maths this week, we have been learning about the importance of Maths as we get older. We have discussed key terminology including 'investment' and 'financial risk' before attempting to make money investing in businesses!
