Writing
For Grammar this week, we have focused on using past perfect tense. We found this rather challenging to use the 'auxiliary verb 'had' alongside a conjunction. On Tuesday we showed resilience and were able to use our prior knowledge to write our very first independent write paragraph in perfect past tense. In Writing this week, we have been planning our paragraphs for our independent write next week, which will be an alternative ending narrative. We have magpied some high-level vocabulary from our text 'Charlotte's web` and practiced using these in a range of sentence structures. We are very proud of stingrays this week they have produced some beautiful pieces of writing and this was down to their enthusiasm and effort during lessons. Well done Stingrays!
Maths
In Arithmetic this week, we have been dividing 2, 3, and 4-digit numbers by 10 and 100. We used place value grids to develop our understanding of how numbers get ten or a hundred times smaller when dividing. In Maths this week, we have continued our topic of 'Multiplication and Division`. On Monday we explored the relationship between the 3, 6, and 9 times tables using our knowledge of multiples. On Tuesday we looked at multiplying and dividing by 7 using arrays. For some of us, this was quite challenging and we have gone above and beyond learning completing extra times table work at home to help us in lessons. Stingrays enjoyed singing along to multiplication songs to support the recall of their times tables!
Geography
In Geography this week, we have been learning all about the different types of biomes on our planet such as the Savana biome, the Rainforest, and the Tundra regions. We researched the climate, types of plants, and animals that live in each biome and enjoyed watching these regions come to life in the 'Our Planet` documentaries. We also received a letter from David Attenborough asking for help with his research! So we enjoyed writing a letter back detailing our Year 4 knowledge of biomes.
