We have simply been so busy in school. We have had World Book Day , Science Week with wonderful workshops and experiences and topic days in school. It has been a hive of learning activity. A huge thank you to all parents for your dedication and support to the school in providing costumes and working in partnership with Waterside.
I am delighted to say that we have been asked to support 2 other schools in sharing our best practice. We love to work with other schools as this offers opportunities for collaboration and this in turn benefits our wonderful children.
You might have seen two new minibuses in school. How exciting, for many years we have saved up and now alongside funds from being a National Lead school and Ofsted work, I undertake, we had enough funds to purchase two minibuses outright. We will now be able to save transport costs to trips and this will mean more experiences, more children going swimming and better opportunities for all. Parents have asked for a morning pick up service. We will take this request to the governing body – thank you as always for ideas to improve our school further.
A polite reminder, school uniform is compulsory and recently we have seen trainers creeping in. We take our policies very serious at Waterside. If your child is not in the correct uniform and it is not immediately rectified, escalation in line with the policy will take place. The policy is on the school website.
I am delighted to say at the half way point of the academic year. The academic performance of children is stronger than ever. We have over 87.5% of the school on track nationally (above national figures) and over 36% of the school working at higher standards. This is incredible. Progress of children is even stronger. We have 99.2% of children making expected progress and 67% making better than expected. This is down to the hard work of the staff, excellent attitudes of learners, improved attendance and parental support.
