Let’s Go Fly a Kite!
This afternoon in DT we made kites using straws, feathers, wrapping paper and string in our DT topic ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’. We had great fun making them and I was so impressed with how they turned out
House building
Funky fingers were set the challenge of building a house, using Lego today. They created some amazing houses, this one includes a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room. They talked beautifully about their designs to each other. Well done everyone!
Developing designers
After lots of practise creating mechanisms, year 1 have begun to design their own moving pictures based on the story of The Billy Goats Gruff. They created a design criteria say agreed their design should meet this included. I think the links to the story and moving part and colourful. Children…
Wheely Good Wheels
Year 1 have continued to learn about mechanisms is DT this week. The children have made a wheel mechanism to make the wolf appear closer to Little Red Riding Hood. They used lots of skills to complete their finished product and were very proud of themselves! ⭐️
Lifting Levers
During DT, Year 1 have continued their learning on mechanisms by making a lever. They learn that levers move around a fixed point - the pivot. They used a lever to make Jack climb the beanstalk. They were so impressed with the work they had done.
Fantastic floor robots
As part of our DT topic ‘Floor Robots’, Sharks class have created an input for our Bee-Bot before observing its output. We were very impressed with how clever Bill the Bee-Bot was following our input!

We took our learning outside today as we started our new DT topic, Programming Adventures. We learned how to programme and control floor robots and even became robots ourselves! We used floor robot programming cards to ‘programme’ our friends to travel across the playground! We really enjoyed…
