To all parents and carers,
A huge thank you to all of the parents that attended the art exhibition on our SMSC of remembrance. It was lovely to see the parental support.
I have to say last week I said we were focused on late arrivals to school as this affects attendance. A significant impact could be seen. On Week commencing 22nd October we had 42 late marks in the school and Week Commencing 5th November this reduced to 29 late marks. Last week we reduced to 21. This was brilliant and much improved. In two weeks we have reduced by 50%
This week we have a trip out to Tatton Park linked with the topics. Each half term we aim to either go out on a visit linked to topics or bring a visitor into school. These experiences help children improve their understanding and application into writing.
A big thank you to parents for your support with school money. We are chasing some late payments and most of the teething problems are now sorted. If you need any help come into the school to see myself.
At Waterside we work closely with other schools and leaders and throughout this half term we are all focusing on a reading case study to improve outcomes. Miss Gaskell has been visiting school to review and evaluate practice and this Friday, Waterside will be showcasing reading. This is most exciting. We have ordered some new reading diaries to start in January to check that children are reading daily. We only expect 10 – 20 minutes per day as fluency in reading is important, as a gateway, to understanding the text.
Should you have any questions or concerns come and see myself, a senior leader or the class teacher immediately.
Mrs Knowles and the Waterside Team.
